Privacy Policy
Fix It Rob! for iPhone · Effective September 21, 2026
Fix It Rob! ("the app", "we") helps you understand damage in a home by analyzing photos you choose to take. This policy explains what information the app collects, where it is stored, and how to delete it. It is written to match how the app actually works.
The short version: the app requires an account. The photos you scan, the reports Rob writes, your onboarding answers, and your precise location at the moment of each scan are stored in your account on our servers so your history follows you across devices. You can delete your account, and everything in it, from Profile at any time. The app shows no ads. It does carry measurement code from the two advertising networks we buy ads on, Meta and TikTok, so we can tell whether those ads work; iOS asks you first, and saying no changes nothing about how Rob works. The details are under "Advertising, analytics and tracking".
Your account
You sign in with Apple, Google, or an email address and password. We store your email address, your name if your sign-in provider shares it, and an account identifier.
What we collect and store
- Photos you scan, at the resolution the app uploads, plus a small thumbnail. Before upload the app strips embedded photo metadata.
- Your reports: what Rob found, the causes, the fix, the cost range, and which home you filed the scan under.
- Your home details and maintenance documents: addresses, property characteristics, purchase dates, notes, and files you choose to add. We store these under your account. Documents are analyzed with artificial intelligence to create summaries and dated timeline entries. The original files remain available to you; you can delete a document and its summary, or delete a home and its documents. Deleting a home keeps its scan reports in your account. These records do not establish the home’s current condition.
- Your onboarding answers (all of them), your state, and a city if you add one in Profile, so estimates match your local market. Under Profile you can change your city, state, what brings you to Rob, and how handy you are; the other answers cannot be edited in this version and stay as you gave them until you delete your account.
- Your precise location at the moment of each scan, with your permission, so each report is tied to the place it was taken. We also keep the most recent location on your profile. If you decline location access, scans still work and no location is stored.
- Your subscription status (the product and expiry date Apple reports), so we can tell whether your account is active. Apple processes payments itself; we never see payment details.
- Technical information your device sends when it reaches our server: the time of the request, which feature was used, whether it succeeded, and the network address it came from. We use this to keep the service running and to investigate errors and abuse. We do not use it to build an advertising profile.
Everything above is linked to your account and stored on our servers in the United States. We do not sell your personal information. The only thing we share for advertising is the short list of app events described under "Advertising, analytics and tracking".
How we use your information
- To produce your reports. Your photo is analyzed to identify the damage, its likely causes, the fix, and how urgent it is.
- To price repairs where you live. Your state, and a city if you add one, set the cost ranges you see instead of a national average.
- To keep your history. Your scans, reports, homes, and home records stay in your account so they follow you to any iPhone you sign in on. Scheduled repairs are stored on this phone and, if you allow it, in your calendar; they are not restored from your Rob account.
- To run your account and subscription, including checking with Apple whether your subscription is active.
- To improve Rob. We may use scan photos, reports, documents, corrections, and related information to verify findings, support quality assurance, develop and improve Rob's databases, cost data, algorithms, and models, and create aggregated, de-identified, or otherwise transformed datasets.
- To keep the service working and safe — diagnosing errors, preventing abuse, and enforcing usage limits.
- To measure our advertising. A short list of app events — installed, opened, finished onboarding, viewed the subscription page, started a trial or subscription — goes to the advertising networks we buy ads on, so we know which ads bring people to Rob. Never your photos, reports, answers, home details, location, or email.
- To answer you when you write to support.
We do not sell your information, and we never use your photos, reports, answers, home details, or location for advertising. What we do send to advertising partners is listed under "Advertising, analytics and tracking".
Exploring your area
When you choose "Use my location" for an area brief, iOS asks for location permission if you have not already decided. Apple converts that location to a city and state. Only the city and state are sent to our server and our service providers for area research; the coordinates from this lookup are not sent to our server or saved to your account. This does not change your saved home location. You can explore your saved area instead without granting location access.
How photos are analyzed
When you scan, the photo is sent over an encrypted connection to our server. We use artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies to analyze it and generate your report. We may also use scan photos, reports, and your corrections to develop and improve Rob's algorithms and models, as described under "How we use your information".
Who we share information with
We use a small number of companies to run the app. They may handle your information only to provide their service to us:
- Our sign-in and storage provider — handles signing you in and hosts our database and your photos, in the United States.
- Service providers and contractors — third parties that perform services on our behalf, such as cloud hosting, image and document processing with artificial intelligence, area research, and security, in the United States.
- Google — Google sign-in if you choose it.
- Apple — Sign in with Apple if you choose it, App Store payments, the subscription status we check, and converting your location to a city and state when you ask for a local area brief.
- Advertising partners: Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and TikTok — receive the app events described under "Advertising, analytics and tracking" and, only if you allow tracking, your device's advertising identifier. They use this to measure their ads and, with your permission, to show you more relevant ads on their own services.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect our rights or someone's safety, or as part of a merger or sale of the app — in which case this policy continues to apply to the information transferred. We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it with data brokers; the advertising partners above receive only what that section describes.
What stays only on your phone
- Calendar events. Repairs you schedule are written to your own calendar on the device. We use full access only so we can remove an event when you delete the matching repair; we never read or transmit your other calendar data.
- Contractor search. The "Pros" feature searches Apple Maps from your device.
Where your information is stored
Your information is stored and processed in the United States, which is where the app is offered. If you use the app from another country, your information is transferred to the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those where you live.
How we protect your information
Traffic between the app and our server is encrypted in transit. Your password is handled by our sign-in provider and never reaches us. Payment details are handled by Apple and never reach us. Photos have their embedded metadata stripped before upload, and access to stored data is limited to what the service needs to run. No security measure is perfect, and we cannot guarantee that a determined attacker will never succeed.
Retention and deletion
We keep your data for as long as your account exists. Delete Account under Profile removes your photos, reports, answers, location history, and your login from our systems. Deleting the app alone does not delete your account. Our server also keeps standard technical logs (timestamps, request outcomes, and error messages) for a limited period; logs do not contain your photos or report contents. When we no longer need personal information, we delete, anonymize, or de-identify it unless the law requires otherwise. Aggregated or de-identified information, and improvements already made to Rob's algorithms and models, do not identify you and may be kept.
Your choices
- Camera, location, and calendar permissions can be changed at any time in iOS Settings; the app works without location and calendar access.
- If you allow notifications, the app schedules one reminder on your phone before a free trial ends; it is scheduled on the device, and nothing about it is sent to our servers.
- You can change your state, add or change a city, and update what brings you to Rob and how handy you are, under Profile. The other onboarding answers cannot be edited in this version; deleting your account removes them.
- You can sign out, or delete your account, under Profile.
What Rob generates about you
Rob's findings are inferences, not facts we were given: the damage identified in a photo, its likely causes, the recommended fix, the urgency, the condition score, and the cost range for your area. We generate them from the photo you scanned and the location and answers you gave us. They are stored in your account and treated exactly like the rest of your information.
Automated decisions
Reports are produced automatically by an AI model without a human reviewing them. They are planning estimates about a building. They are not used to make decisions about you as a person, and we never use them for credit, insurance, employment, housing eligibility, or anything with a similar legal effect. You can delete any scan, or your whole account, at any time.
Advertising, analytics and tracking
The app shows no ads. To reach more homeowners we buy ads on Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and TikTok, and the app carries each network's measurement code so we can tell whether those ads work. That code sends them a short list of events: that the app was installed and opened, that onboarding was finished, that the subscription page was viewed, and that a free trial or subscription was started, with the plan and price. It never receives your photos, Rob's reports, your onboarding answers, your home details, your location, or your email address.
During onboarding, iOS shows the App Tracking Transparency prompt and asks whether the app may track you across other companies' apps and websites. If you allow it, the app shares your device's advertising identifier with those two partners alongside the events above, which lets them match an install to the ad that led to it and show you more relevant ads on their services. If you say no, the identifier is never read and the events go out without it; Apple's own privacy-preserving attribution still tells us an ad worked without telling anyone who you are. You can change your answer at any time in iOS Settings under Privacy & Security → Tracking. The app works exactly the same either way.
Beyond those two partners, the app contains no advertising or analytics SDKs; the only other outside code it carries is what signs you in and reaches your account. We do study how Rob performs using the scans, reports, and corrections in our own systems, as described under "How we use your information", and no analytics company receives your information. This website sets no advertising cookies, so there is nothing on it for a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal to opt you out of. Because sharing the advertising identifier counts as "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising under California law, "Your rights" below explains how to opt out.
Messages we send
We send account and service emails, such as confirming your address or resetting your password. We do not send marketing email in this version. The app has no push notification capability at all; the single reminder before a free trial ends is scheduled locally on your phone and can be turned off in iOS Settings.
Your privacy rights
Wherever you live, you can:
- See and correct much of your information directly in Profile.
- Delete everything with Delete Account under Profile.
- Request a copy of the information in your account, or ask us any question about it, by emailing support@fixitrob.app.
We verify a request by requiring it to come from the email address on the account. We will not treat you differently for exercising any of these rights.
California
California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect and why, to obtain a copy of it, to correct it, to delete it, and not to be discriminated against for asking. The categories we collect are: identifiers (name, email, account identifier, network address); commercial information (your subscription product and expiry); geolocation (your precise location at each scan, with your permission); visual information (the photos you scan); and inferences (the findings and cost ranges Rob generates). We collect these from you and from your device, and we use them for the purposes listed under "How we use your information".
We do not sell your personal information. We do share your device's advertising identifier and the app events described under "Advertising, analytics and tracking" with Meta and TikTok, which counts as sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising, and you can opt out at any time: decline the tracking prompt, or turn tracking off for Fix It Rob in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, and the identifier is no longer shared. You can also email support@fixitrob.app with "Do Not Sell or Share" in the subject line. Precise location is "sensitive personal information" under California law; we use it only to attach a place to your scan and to price repairs locally, which are permitted purposes, never for advertising, and never to infer characteristics about you.
Other US states
Residents of states with comprehensive privacy laws have the same core rights to access, correct, delete, and obtain a portable copy of their information, and to opt out of targeted advertising, sale, and profiling with legal effects. We do not sell information or profile you; to opt out of targeted advertising, use the tracking setting or the email address described just above. If we deny a request you may appeal by emailing support@fixitrob.app with "Appeal" in the subject line, and we will respond with our reasons.
Europe and the United Kingdom
The app is currently offered only in the United States. If the law of the EEA, the UK or Switzerland applies to you, our legal bases are performing our contract with you (running your account and producing your reports), our legitimate interest in keeping the service working and secure, your consent where you granted location access, and compliance with law. You also have the right to object to processing, to withdraw consent at any time, and to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
If something goes wrong
If a security incident affects your personal information, we will notify you and the relevant authorities where the law requires it, and tell you what happened and what to do about it.
Children
Fix It Rob! is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it and close the account. If you believe a child has given us information, email support@fixitrob.app.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, the effective date above will be updated. Questions: support@fixitrob.app.
